Starting a new career path after working in one for a while is difficult. The best way to start this process is to enrol in certification classes, which will provide you with the technical training required to pass the certification exam. One such certification path is Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Networking. Obtaining MTA certification as a technology specialist leads to a lucrative career in technology. This exam is far from easy, so if you want to start a career in the IT industry, you must prepare thoroughly.
What exactly is a Microsoft Technology Associate Networking Certificate?
To become a Microsoft Technology Associate, or MTA, you must first understand the Microsoft certification programme, which is divided into three tracks: IT Infrastructure, Database, and Development. The IT Infrastructure track includes the Networking Fundamentals certificate.
MTA Networking certification training is designed to assess your understanding of three core concepts: network infrastructures, network hardware, and protocols and services. The ideal candidate should already have some hands-on experience with network management tools, Windows Server, and other similar technologies, but these are not required prerequisites.
Who Should Think About Getting an MTA Networking Certificate?
The MTA Networking certificate is ideal for candidates who want to learn the fundamentals of MTA networking. Passing this exam demonstrates to potential employers that you understand how information flows through networking technologies such as the internet, intranet, extranet, local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networking, network topology, and access methods.
You will also gain a solid understanding of networking concepts such as the OSI model, IP addressing, Internet Protocols, information security, and others.
What Can You Expect from the Exam?
The MTA Networking exam is administered in the same manner as other MTA exams and adheres to the same exam policies. It is computer-based and lasts between 40 and 50 minutes. On the exams, candidates can expect to see between 30 and 40 questions. Candidates who have prepared thoroughly will have more than enough time to go through the examination and even review questions they have marked.
Candidates can expect the following scenario at the testing center when it comes to the exam taking process. Administrators will grant them access to their computers. Once they’ve been added, the testing software will display the policies and the NDA (non-disclosure agreement). After they agree to the terms, you will be shown how to respond to questions. Candidates who are completely new to MTA exams should read this. Remember that this will not count toward your 40-50-minute time limit. After you’ve gone through it, you’ll need to press the start button to begin taking the exam.
What Happens If You Don’t Pass the Exam?
Candidates who fail the MTA Networking exam must wait 24 hours before retaking the exam. If they are unable to pass the exam a second time, they must wait seven days before taking it again. The number of MTA certification attempts per year is limited to five.
How Do I Obtain an MTA Networking Certificate?
The certificate can only be obtained by applying for and passing the examination. This is a very simple process; all you have to do is go to the official Microsoft website and follow the instructions there. However, in order to pass the exam (and pass it with flying colours), you will most likely need to prepare. You’ll have several options for this.
Self-Studying
At first glance, self-study may appear to be the most viable and logical option. You can set your own pace, devote more time to things that are difficult for you, and select the best learning method for you. It appears to be a good idea on paper, but practise has shown that this is the method that produces the worst results.
The main disadvantage of this method is that a lack of professional instruction can leave you with knowledge gaps that you won’t notice until you take the exam. When there is no one to supervise your progress, it is also quite common to slack off. So, what are the alternatives?
Microsoft Certification Preparation
Microsoft provides a variety of resources to assist their trainees in becoming certified professionals by preparing them for the MTA Networking certification examination. There are two three-day and five-day instructor-led fundamentals courses available. Aside from those, you can take a practise test to get a sense of what the exam questions will be like.
Although Microsoft provides resources for studying the various topics covered in the exam, the fine print states that these resources may not cover the entire subject matter required to pass the test.
